One of the things we fear the most about the death process is the NOT knowing. Not knowing what really happens when we die, where we go, and how we get there. We fear this for our own deaths as well as the deaths of others.
The truth is we have no tangible way TO KNOW what is on that “Other Side” or if there actually is an afterlife. It’s this not knowing that plagues us. Many folks that come to me want to be assured somehow that their loved ones that have died are OK. They crave to be secure in knowing they are somewhere and that they are happy.
Considering the Concept of Omnipresence
As a medium and one who often experiences connections with energies on other side of the veil, I fully believe in the afterlife.
There have been numerous times I’ve connected to relay messages from a passed family member or friend. They assure their loved ones left here on Earth that all is OK and often affirm they’re still with them in various ways, sometimes making themselves known via signs and symbols. I believe after death, we can still be very present—just in another form.
Even though we no longer function within our physical body, we’re still a body of sorts, but more along the lines of a body/form of consciousness. Because we no longer tote around this dense, heavy meat-body after we die, we instead reside in a formless body of existence, which allows us to experience omnipresence. Meaning the ability to BE—to be anywhere, in any time, in any scope of reality just by intenting to do so.
It’s important for those of us left living to imagine our passed loved ones returning to their pure consciousness: formless as Source energy in an ethereal body (verses meat), traveling about in a state of constant awe, learning, and remembering.
What a glorious sensation it must be to experience beyond our limited three dimensions and six senses, embracing a profoundly guided, trusted journey.
Many times when I connect to those on the other side, they indicate they do indeed find their family and friends and, oftentimes, continue to work with them in spirit form. They also tell me that because of their omni-present state of BEing, they are fully aware of the family they have left still existing on the Earth plane.
They, through intention, can know of events in our lives that matter to us and they send love, light, and support to us even if we are not aware of it.
It is US that needs to be open to this concept in order to allow ourselves to receive their messages.
Choosing Our Experience of Death (and Life)
So how and where do we “go” on this journey? From what I’ve learned as an energy healer working with hospice patients, we experience our death much like our life: as we choose to. This means, while living, we are co-creating and existing from the point of reference provided by our individual consciousness container.
We perceive our daily lives the way we’re choosing to. We choose what’s in our consciousness container. Yes, the overall reality is happening, but the way we experience it is very individual and is based on our beliefs.
The same goes for our deaths. If we believe our loved ones will be there to greet us at our death, they will. If we believe we will encounter angels, we will. If we believe we deserve to be damned to a hell, we will. Because “we get to”.
We are co-creating our existences on BOTH sides of this veil, so it may be time to re-examine your true beliefs of the afterlife and possibly shed old fears and bring in new loving supporting ideas of the death you would like to experience.
I personally do not believe there is a “place” that we reside in following our biological death as much as planes of existence or points of reference guiding what our consciousness then experiences as existing. Just like the crossing, we will experience this “place” as we choose to.
We do work on this other side, but not the same kind of work we do here for a paycheck. This work we do is spiritual work because our soul continues to ascend after death. There are “places” of learning…places to study, to grow knowledge. Often it is recorded you meet with groups, boards, guides, or spiritually advanced beings within these places.
It’s said our helper-beings have highly advanced knowledge about us when we die and cross over. Their role is to assist us in evaluating our life that has just ended and even make recommendations concerning our next incarnation.
When we release our fears about the unknown elements of the dying journey and the afterlife, we can open ourselves up to loving concepts about how we choose to experience life as an energetic being here on this Earth plane and how we will choose to experience our transition beyond, when the time comes.

It’s hard for me to believe we will experience hell because we think we deserve it . That belief is based on fear which is a three dimensional limiting view of reality. I would think that passing over means we will understand the broader spectrum of wholeness and universal love and become one with it.

This is so great. If you haven’t, I would recommend the book by Anita Moorjani – “Dying to be me” – about her near death experience. wonderful read.

Dear Suzanne,
Thank you for your post.
What about the awareness that we have still here on earth that at one time , an issue or a relationship means something , but at other time , means other meaning.
For instance while walking on the same road we see and feel the nature.at othertime same road with an internal dialogue no more same becomes alive and give meanings.
My point is our conscious sometimes might reach the other side and make some sort of conversation with the unknown while experiencing our life journey.
Thanks
Teddy
